Herb Baum

It is with great sadness that we mourn the loss of our Chairman of the Board, benefactor and Furry Friends advocate, Herb Baum. Herb died in Jupiter after a battle with coronavirus (COVID-19). Philanthropy, heroism and impactful achievement marked Herb's entire life. Herb was a tireless supporter of animal welfare and was the first-ever recipient of Furry Friends CIGO Award for courage and integrity and service to animals.

Furry Friends president Pat Deshong said, "Herb embodied the true meaning of selflessness, support and leadership for Furry Friends. There are no words for us to express what Herb has meant to our organization. He touched all of our lives in an important and meaningful way, and helped thousands of animals. We have not only lost our chief and captain but more importantly a dear friend and family member."

Prior to retirement, Baum served as president of Campbell Soup North and South America, chairman and CEO of the Quaker State Corporation, president and COO of Hasbro Inc. and chairman and CEO of the Dial Corporation. Most recently Baum was awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in New York City.

Our hearts go out to his family and countless others who have impacted by his generosity and bright light. Furry Friends will be honoring Herb's memory once we are all able to gather together again.
